Frequently asked questions

What does "amount in words" mean on an invoice?

It is the total written out in words next to the figures, on invoices, cheques and receipts, so it is harder to alter. English invoices usually end it with "only"; Arabic invoices open with "faqat" and close with "la ghair".

How do I write the cents, halalas or piastres?

After the main unit, joined with "and": "Two hundred fifty Saudi riyals and fifty halalas only". On some cheques the fraction is written as "and 50/100" instead.

Why does the Kuwaiti dinar have 3 decimals?

One Kuwaiti dinar is 1,000 fils, so 1.250 KWD is one Kuwaiti dinar and two hundred fifty fils. Pick KWD and the tool reads the amount with 3 decimals.

Can I get the amount in Arabic words too?

Yes. The tool shows the Arabic wording next to the English one, ready to copy. The Arabic page has the rules and examples per currency.

Are my numbers saved?
